Montevideo, Uruguay – Uruguay advanced to the final of the 1995 Copa América after a dramatic penalty shootout victory over Brazil. The match ended 1-1, and Uruguay prevailed 5-3 in the shootout. In the other semifinal, Colombia defeated Uruguay 1-0 to reach the final for the first time in 23 years. Colombia played with ten men for the majority of the match after Alexis GarcÃa was sent off in the 19th minute. The final will be played on July 23 at the Estadio Centenario in Montevideo.
