Early Life and Education

Gada Kanaan is a Syrian-American computer scientist and entrepreneur who was born in Damascus, Syria in 1985. She moved to the United States with her family when she was 10 years old. Kanaan attended the University of California, Berkeley, where she earned a bachelor's degree in computer science in 2007. She then went on to earn a master's degree in computer science from Stanford University in 2009.

Career

Kanaan began her career as a software engineer at Google in 2009. She worked on a variety of projects at Google, including the development of the Google Search algorithm and the Google Maps platform. In 2014, Kanaan left Google to co-found her own company, Scale AI. Scale AI is a machine learning platform that helps businesses to build and deploy machine learning models.

Awards and Recognition

Kanaan has been recognized for her work in the tech industry. In 2017, she was named one of the "40 Under 40" by Fortune magazine. She was also named one of the "100 Most Influential People in the World" by Time magazine in 2018.

Personal Life

Kanaan is married to Ali Ghodsi, the co-founder and CEO of Databricks. They have two children. Kanaan is a passionate advocate for diversity and inclusion in the tech industry. She is a member of the board of directors of the Anita Borg Institute, a non-profit organization that works to increase the participation of women in computing.
