Mercedes dominate final practice in Silverstone

George Russell headed a Mercedes 1-2 in a damp final practice at Silverstone, ahead of team-mate and seven-time champion Lewis Hamilton. Lando Norris was third for McLaren.

Hamilton wins amazing race at Silverstone

Lewis Hamilton has won an amazing race at Silverstone, holding off a late charge from Red Bull's Max Verstappen to take his first victory of the season. George Russell completed the podium for Mercedes.

The race started in wet conditions, and Hamilton made a great start to take the lead from Verstappen. The Red Bull driver closed the gap in the early laps, but Hamilton was able to hold on. The safety car was deployed on lap 12 after a crash between Carlos Sainz and Fernando Alonso, and this gave Verstappen a chance to close up again. The race resumed on lap 15, and Hamilton was able to pull away from Verstappen once again.

Verstappen pitted for new tires on lap 25, and Hamilton followed suit a lap later. Verstappen was able to close the gap to Hamilton again, but the Mercedes driver was able to hold on to take the victory.
